There’s been a good deal of posts lately regarding MONO gig bags, i.e. what model to get, are they worth the money etc., so I thought it would be a good idea to make a one-stop shop for these kinds of questions, as well as a forum for those of us who own one or more of them to discuss various aspects of their use.

So, ladies and gentlemen - I give you the MONO Owner’s Club! Feel free to post pics, ask questions or answer them, and offer advice and support. We won’t bother with club numbers, if you own anything produced by MONO, you’re in.

    In the order of purchase:
    1. M80 Dual Electric Bass,
    2. M80 Vertigo Electric Guitar (bought for my short 30" scale bass),
    3. M80 Classic Electric Guitar,
    4. M80 Classic Electric Bass.
Haven't taken any pictures of all four together. This one is only the three of them with Gruv Gear GigBlade 2:

    ------------- Edit ‐------------

Finally got the time to take picture all 4 of them in a single frame:

Welcome, gentlemen! I realize I have been remiss in not declaring my own purchases. They are:

    MONO Vertigo Bass
    MONO M80 Single Bass
    MONO Guitar Tick, black
MONO Guitar Tick, grey (a faulty delivery, which I got to keep)

I also used to own a Bass Sleeve which I ended up selling, not because there was anything wrong with it (in fact, I rather liked it), but because I didn’t really need it.

So, to kick off the discussion: M80, Vertigo or Sleeve - or perhaps the new Stealth?

What makes you prefer one over the other?

I like the headstock room of the Vertigo better than the Sleeve. Seems silly but I didn’t like the Sleeve turning my tuning keys.

    What’s a Stealth? I don’t need more gas haha. I’ll Google it.

Welcome, @2saddleslab! How do you find the Dual, I’ve always kind of avoided them, as I’ve been afraid they would be too heavy. Goodness knows that my Vertigo, fully loaded and with a Tick attached, weighs more than enough. :)

  11. I have the Vertigo and, aside from the great protection this bag provides my basses, the top loading is, by far, the best feature. Unzip and pulling my bass right out of the top is excellent in any environment - tight or wide open.
I bought mine used in new condition but within 6 months the piping began falling apart. It's purely cosmetic but I wouldn't have expected it to fall apart the way it has in such a short time. But this is still the only bag I'd buy without thinking twice.

Thanks, the Dual works perfect for me. Other than an extra set of used strings [which I keep in every gig bag] the dual only holds basses. I have a backpack for the rest. Previously I always carried 2 basses in gig bags at the same time and the Dual makes that task easier to maneuver.

Found it gently used here on TB for a god price. Had it a year and so far has shown no wear at all since my ownership.

Forgot I have a Betty strap too. Used to have a short but now I have a long. I’m kinda right on the line between the two.

Strange - never seen that before. The Hypalon rubber that MONO uses is extremely hard-wearing, in my experience. Never seen as much as a crack. I wonder what the bag has been subjected to before you got it?

I’ve got the M80 dual bass case, Mono Tick, and the Mono Pedalboard Pro case (pedalboard case brand new...wife bought it for me years ago but I never had a pedalboard big enough for it).

I’ve had 3 of their Betty straps....super comfortable but all 3 started fraying and falling apart after a few months so I tossed them.

I like the sleeve, but not enamored with the flap and pocket functionality. The pocket itself is great, but that flap fastening design is just wrong. Checking it out line, looks like they fixed that with the Stealth. Pretty sure my next purchase will be the M80 Dual. Carrying in two different bags is getting too clunky.

My 2016 G. Gould GGi5 came with my Mono 80 Classic Bass. Not sure exactly how I feel about the case. Kind of a Hard Shell guy. Lots of pockets for my strap, extra cord and computer though IMAG0374.jpg IMAG0373.jpg

Actually, I quite liked the strap fastener design on the Sleeve. If you want a good example of someone who got that type of fastener completely wrong, take a look at the Gator Transit. :)

Hard shell cases definitely have their place, it all depends on your needs. If you only ever transport your bass in a car, or need the extra protection, a hard case is fine. If you have to cross town via public transport or on foot, a hard case shows its limitations fairly quickly, IMHO. But to have as good a gig bag as possible in that situation is obviously important. That’s where the MONO line comes in. :)
