Ahh, finally got this baby! Slapped some nickel strings on here (takes forever on a 6!!) and had to RAISE the action a bit (yes!) and I am off and running in less than an hour on this bass...got to love that.

pics for all you lovers of low-frequency pornography!

What kind of top is that ? Seems like an ash body ?

So, how is the jump from 5 to 6 ?

    Boiled Maple

err...I mean Burled Maple (fongerboad poetic liscense ya know)

    Ash Body

I can't do some of the intricate right hand stuff (double thump/pop for that triplicate feel on the G string, see "Ballistic" on my website...the effect is in the main bass line) But overall, I don't get "confused" that the C is the G or whatever, the C is so much thinner it is hard to get them confused...for regular playing, regular slapping double thumping, no probs...the main challenge I think is going to be to learn chords and how to compose with them (well).

Sounds much like my Custom 5, maybe a *little* grittier due to the ash body (my 5 has a mahogany body) Overall, a gorgeous instrument, and one I will be woodshedding on for the next few months until I can feel REALLY comfortable with it...

One surprising thing, I am finding that the neck width is NO problem for me. The satin finish on the new Zons kicks ass too (on the back of the neck, it isn't glossy anymore).

LOL!! For sanity sake, I am going to consider my 5's as my "reference points" as such, they will still be the ones I reach for the most...

This 6 is a blast...while I know the notes on the C string, I am having some problems *reaching* (out of habit) for the right note automatically...too cool...I like being in these learning curves :)

    Drool...

Surely posting pictures like that on the Internet is illegal... you put very strange thoughts in the minds of weaker individuals... how can you sleep at night knowing you're responsible for many looted piggy banks in the near future?

Too funny man, for those interested this bass listed at $4,900 hundred freaking dollars...Didn't pay that, but it was still expensive...I will now delclare that I will not buy any more basses for the next three years (crossing fingers)...

    You're a brave, brave man. :)

Looks awesome - I like the top better in these pictures than the earlier ones. Which is closer to reality?

Yeah, the top seems brighter in these pictures, more orange hue to it.

Awesome bass and I bet it must fit like a damn custom glove! Love it and cherish it. Rock on, buddy.

    :)

Hehe...I'm honored! I was thinking of suggesting Carmelita...

She is definitely a beaut! The boiled maypole is so very nice, but the swap ass is good enough to be a top itself!

In these outdoor pics, I don't see the cheetah/leopard face I thought I did (as much).
Dang, I thought there was a chester cheeto face in there. Guess not.

Can't wait to hear what she can do!

Wouldn't that be great if there was actual bass pornography where hot naked chicks were in all kinds of erotic positions with really nice basses. Man that would be soo sweet!

I am not sure...just a little narrower than the 5's I have...not too hard to get used too, but it will take some getting used to nonetheless...
