More bio on John Riley?

I’ve been enamored with Son Seals for a couple of years, and this morning found the liner notes on his debut album listing the bassist as John Riley. I’m assuming he was a Chicago session player, but does anyone have more information on his life, work, gear, etc.? Figure it’s a long shot but worth a try.
