Actually, the G5 is now starting to look like a bargain compared to the Akai based on second hand prices. You can pick up a G5 used in great condition in the $200 - $250 range usually.
Deep Impacts are going for nearly $400 now, although one went recently for $475

really? the last one i saw, few months back, went for nearly $500 i thought?

ive heard a few clips of the g5 and i actually thought it sounded more versatile than the DI and that the tracking was just as good.

have you had any experience with that ADA pitchtraq?

No, sorry, I generally avoid rackmount fx.

The G5 IS a great pedal, the only area where it falls down compared to the Akai is in construction. The plastic switches don't feel very stomp proof. Don't get me wrong, I've had mine years with no issues but I always feel like they could go at any time.

yes it does look a bit plastic. i think that it cant be long now until someone brings out a new floorbased bass synth that uses the same tracking technology as the DI or G5.

actually i spotted this one on an australian site, its rackmounted but ive never heard of it before, by terratec:

cool. I actually tried out the bass pod xt live recently, the synths on it are surprisingly good and tracking is good.

My favorite up there is the Sapphire Flanger. Way overpriced when they were made, but more than worth it used. Great, solid built effects that sound amazing.

HAHA!!! Thats MY old Pitchraq!!! Wow, that baby sure has made the rounds!!!

Also... The randomatic is a BRILLIANT pedal, you should really do some research on it... Its basicaly a sample and hold flanger, think a robotalk that flanges!!! BRILLIANT!!! They have been talking about re-issuing it for years now... Rare as all hell they are!.. The XP-1000 is a co project between Adam Fokner (GuitarGeek - the guy who runs the site, and Juan from Manico Looper) - you can read all about in on www.guitargeek.com.

    Cheers

man.. and i thought that I read too much pedal related stuff! :)

so how is the pitchtraq then? ive never heard of them before but it looks like it would do a pretty good pitch shift/harmonizing job... im still thinking about getting a whammy for that purpose tho. would you put the two units in the same boat functionally?

so any predictions on how high this rand-o-matic will sell for? the first thing i thought when i read the discription was that it was some sort of exotic robot sounding modulation type thing.

as for the xp1000 i think its a great idea, though i still think its still priced a little high even for the fact that its a 4 in one... if it was sold at $200 US i would think about it, mainly for the space station sounds.

Higgie: my pleasure. i just wish that i lived in the US because i could afford to buy a lot more gear for myself. Get this, a boss ds-1 costs about $200 to buy in store in australia. ludicrous!

Yes its true... I have traded a "life" for such knowlage... Now if I could only get payed for it!!!

As for the rand'o' I say someone will probobly kill the auction with the BIN. The XP-1000 is a steal as Space Stations have been fetching upwards of $600...

I don't live in the US either. I know what you mean. Stuff here in England is expensive. I mean the dollar to pound ratio at the moment is like 1.77 dollars = 1 pound, yet the prices are sometimes around the same. I mean like $99 in the US, and £99 over here! Rip Off! If I find something on eBay and the buyer doesnt say they'll ship internationally I always ask just to make sure. And that's what happened with the FX25. He said shipping to US, I asked, he said yes, and I ended up getting a 105Q and an FX25 plus shipping for £90 :)

yeah ive noticed the US dollar/pounds sterling thing... its strange. i guess the UK currency is strong enough to establish itself as independently of the US market. im the same as you, most people will ship internationally, its not too difficult especially for small items like pedals. you got your two pedals for a good price i think, hope you are happy with them.

Yeah I did. $30 for the FX25! That's £17! Thats about the price of a brand new chart DVD over here! :) But I can't thank you enough for pointing out that deal to me.

Will do ;) What are you after?

  19. I have both a Korg G5 and a DOD FX25. They are both great, and I would urge anyone to snag either if they come along for sale.

  20. Jeez, this thread's 4 years old. The prices have probably rocketed since then...
