More Picking - Internal debate

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by 7Stringer, Oct 12, 2002.

  1. I was asked to play on a friend's debut release...which I happily agreed. The material has arrived and it's machine gun type double bass in some sections. It's pretty important that those notes are nailed (and I can nearly play that fast clean), so I am debating about trying to use a pick, despite 20+ yrs of finger playing.

    I am already practicing...

Any other useful tips (besides earlier thread) that can help me with *picking* this up VERY quickly? I think the pick is really what the song calls for...

First day, my first finger and forearm are a little sore... :D

Try to point your hand like you're holding a pick, then roll your thumb upwords from the finger (like your rolling a snot ball;)) have a little space between the fingers and play down with your thumb and up with your finger very fast.
Tell me how this is working for you:)
  3. Not a bad idea, especially with a little nail. That just might work :) hehe
