most common stock wiring: series or parallel

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Kwesi, Sep 17, 2008.

  1. How do most basses come wired from the factory, in series or parallel?

So far i really like the sound of pickups wired in series. They just seem to sound more full while, pups wired parallel just seem to be lacking that fullness.
  2. which basses? most dual pickup basses (and guitars) come in paralell, but the P comes in series (there are 2 coils, could be rewired for parallel for more tonal options).

adding a push/pull pot or a dpdt switch for parallel pups is easy if you can use a soldering iron. as you say, the sound can be really nice and fat.
