most versatile amp configuration

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by brien_4, Jun 30, 2003.

  1. before i even get started, i know that this particular question will likely be answered with strictly opinions because there is no set standard, but what do you think the best set-up of speakers would be for general playing? really, i guess i'm contemplating buying fifteen(s) (gotta downsize some) and am wondering if it will give me a decent slap-tone and still thump... or would a configuration of tens be better? anyway, tell me what you have and likes/dislikes about certain set-ups. thanks for any input.

You're considering DOWNSIZING to fifteens????? Wow.

For slap, my opinion is that 10's are best, consider a 2x10 paired with a 1x15. Should get you through most gigs. I use a 4x10 either alone, or paired with a 1x15 for larger stages, and it covers everything.
