  1. Does any body know a good site to find tabs to some oldtime Motown songs.

    Ah, I see you're getting into the greatest pop music ever! :D

    Go to amazon and do a search for:

    Standing in the Shadows of Motown.

    This is a must-have book for every bass player. While it's certainly not free like tabs, the bass lines are incredibly accurate. If you don't sight read, you can try some of the easier tunes in the book and you'll find your sight reading will actually take off.

    I'll second jazzbo's suggestion. With a lot of Motown music, it's often not the notes that are so important as the feel, rhythm and groove. If you want to understand more about how it all fits together, Standing in the Shadows... is an excellent resource.
