Mounting a DC Adapter

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by johnm0187, Jun 29, 2005.

  1. I'm modding my russian Big Muff. I already have the DC jack hooked up and for now, I have it sticking out of the battery compartment (ghetto).

I started drilling a hole in the casing, but then my drill ran out of power and I couldn't find the charger. But now i'm wondering, after I drill the hole, the adapter isn't just going to stay there is it?

So how exactly should I go by mounting this thing?

I've drilled a hole in the middle of the input/outjack.

The DC jack ive used has a screw and thread. I needed to drill the hole, add the DC jack, screw it on THEN solder the postive and negative leads, also making sure it is center negative.

    Hope this helps.

What kind of jack are you using? This is necessary to tell you how to mount it. I use the plastic ones like this:

Drill the hole, remove the burrs, mount, then solder. Works for me everytime.
  4. I think I got how to do it.

I just got a jack from radio shack. It's a lot longer than that, but I can unscrew it and screw it so it locks in the drilled hole like that.
