Well, we finally got rid of our landline. But I am looking for a way to mount the phone on the wall, so we know where it is, can easily use the speaker function for a group talk, maybe even charge the phone, and not look too ugly/modern. Suggestions?
What kind of phone? In the meantime, floating shelves are all the rage still. Use some reclaimed materials like wood and pipe fittings for that rustic 'I want to save the environment' look. -Mike
I'm confused. If you ditched the landline, why do you still have a house phone? If you're talking about mounting a cellphone to the wall, I think we'll need to know which phone you have.
I can't see the point in mounting a cellphone on the wall, although there is the boundary effect which would affect how the mic works. Sound waves travel along a flat surface, so a wall acts as a kind of sound collector for a mic sitting on that surface. That's how PZM mics work. This effect also works with cardioid and omni mics, and cell phone mics fall in those categories. However, a table top makes an equally effective surface to take advantage of the boundary effect, and odds are the phone will be closer to the people speaking if it's on a table rather than the wall. Remember, mics hear best the sound source which is closest to them. In order words, I'm not sure it's a great idea.
Do you mean something like this, for a cell phone? https://www.amazon.com/Damage-free-...d=1512107069&sr=8-3&keywords=phone+wall+mount
I bought that exact one. I opened the package, put it right back in, and sent it back. Cheap flimsy plastic. -Mike
What happens when someone has to leave the house? I mean, usually each person has their own phone/number.
Yeah, something like this, just hoping for something a little less ... cheap looking. Both my wife and I have our own smartphone - one now has what used to be our home number. So, while we are at home we are sharing that number, and that is what family and such will generally use to call us. Want to have a central location, and be able to use it to, such as when we both are talking with our son.
Sounds like a perfect application for Velcro. I love the stuff. Velcro and post it notes hold my life together.
Well there is A LOT of options if you really dig. There are holders that plug into the outlet and have a shelf for your phone to sit in. You can do the wireless charging bass and have it on that. You can also get creative with products from this company: ProClip USA | Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts The thing is, there are so many options out there.
This all day. You can just set the cell on the little shelf, and it's so retro/cool. I think I will make one.
Not only that, but put it over an outlet, drill a small hole, and have the charging cable come out of it. Or maybe use the area where the headset wire would come out and go into the phone. You know, if done right this thing would sell like hot cakes...to us old fogies I am sure.
Out of curiosity I Google "cell phone mounting on wall" and went to images. The choices are endless. Do that and see if anything tickles your fancy.
