Are there any mp3 recorders that have a microphone input so that I can record live stuff? I know minidisc recorders can do that but I think I'd rather have an mp3 player. Also can mp3 format be converted to AIFF so any cd player can read it?
  2. Should be able to record it, then convert it to mp3. I don't know if one will record straight to mp3.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of the way a portable minidisc can record live with it's microphone input. I was hoping some one knows if there is a portable mp3 that will do that too.

I believe you can do that with a nomad jukebox III. It's an awesome player, 20GB of hard drive space (or 40 if you want to pay the extra cash  ). It's hugely improved over the older versions, none of the large flaws (low output, short battery life). I plan on buying one of these to replace my recently busted RCA lyra.
