Beautiful work! I love to see wood's natural beauty shine through. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how you stained the top without it getting into the body curve/bottom wood. (Excuse my lack of technical terms.)

Did you add "Mr Nabors" or was it there when you disassembled? That is a very formal name for a bass. Mine are Larry, Paul, and Katie

I think that bass was previously owned by Gomer Pyle. It could be worth a lot of $$$ in the future.

I would have left it natural, but you did a good job.

Very nice. Wow, that was some nice curl, I wonder why did they ever cover it up with a semi-opaque finish.

Yeah, I'd like to know the answer to that too... reckon they read some snarky post about coffee table basses on some discussion forum somewhere...?

Great job on the refin OP.

Thanks Dave. I used masking tape to separate the colors. In my situation, it was very important to seal the wood before adding color. Doing this prevents any color bleed.

I believe Mr. Nabors was the original owner. The name and a phone number was on the back of the control cavity cover. Called the number, but unavailable. He could even be a member here. But the bass will definitely keep the name!

Thanks wraub. It definitely was sharp with just the sealer on it. But, I already have an all natural bass. :D:D So I spiced er up a lil bit. ;)
