Great playing and sounding new MTD 535-24. But the family is growing and it’s time to let a few basses go. I have had the bass a few months and it is out of this world comfortable and quick. With huge tonal variations. The pick ups and preamp are the same as a Super 5 but in the placement of the 535. This is also on the lighter side for this wood combo.

    9lbs 5oz

    Maple Burl Top
    Black Limba Body
Composit flamed ash/ bubinga neck with titanium rods
Toasted Birds Eye Maple finger board.

Shipping prices will depend on destination and vary from $80-$200.

Trade offers welcome, I am looking for vintage Stingrays or some kind of boutique J or P. Olinto, serek etc

Do you know the difference of the pickup and pre
    than the usual one?

It’s a hotter pickup with dual coils and coil cuts. Along with active passive mode.

As stated above. The pickups in a Super 5 are dual coil. The “normal” 535 pickups are more like a reverse P split coil pickup. The preamp in the Super 5 is more like the one in the Saratoga models as well.

9lbs 5 oz. not heavy and not goofy light. It’s a great weight and well balanced.

  14. Beautiful. How does the Super 5 pickups and preamp compare to 535's tonally?

My reason for the Super5 Pickups was for the signal coil split and the ability to have the active/passive switch with tone control.

My personal feeling is the tone can be very similar if the coils are both on and the preamp is in active mode. I feel that beyond all the cool modern tones that MTDs can create, the 535 pickups can also produce a warm P tone, where the Super5 pickups are more inline with a J tone when split.

    Hope this helps.

  16. Sweet, thanks for the concise answer. I've never heard a Super 5 in real life, but I think I know what you mean.

The pickup locations are a big part of the actual Super 5 sound.
