This is a beautiful bass in great shape. The action is low and fast. Fretwork is stellar. It sounds wonderful. The finish is spectacular. And the cool 2-tone neck makes this bass very special. Truly a one-of-a-kind!

The headstock has the MTD World logo and a special, limited edition 25th Anniversary logo. This beautiful bass was a featured bass for Michael Tobias Designs at 2019 Winter NAMM. It comes with the MTD hardshell case and all the case candy.

The sound: Okoume is a wonderful tonewood that is in the mahogany family. It is a bit of a softer wood and leans toward the warmer side of mahogany tone. That's evident in the sound of this bass. MTDs traditionally have a well-rounded tone with very sizzly highs. This bass is more centered tonally. When flat, it doesn't have that extreme sizzle in the highs. Plus, it has a well-rounded low-end without being boomy. The Okoume body makes this a very well-balanced bass to the ear. I've owned a couple of MTDs and this is the nicest sounding one I've heard.

Why am I selling? This is actually one I don't want to let go, simply because it's nearly impossible to find such a lightweight MTD that plays and sounds as good as this one. But I have 2 custom basses on the way and need to make room for them, both logistically and financially.

    Thanks for looking!

Beautiful bass with unique woods. How would you describe the sound?

Since it’s an MTD with the traditional preamp, you can dial in almost any tone. That’s why I always gravitate back to these basses (along with the pretty woods and the low/fast action).

I’ve owned a number of MTD basses and this one is a tiny bit more mellow on the top end when the eq is flat. It still sounds like an MTD, except that super sizzly treble tone is tamed (nice alliteration!). You can dial that in if you want it, but I’ve typically dialed it out in a mix. On this one, I can mostly run flat and tweak for the room. Much more balanced, to my ears.

In short, it’s versatile like an MTD, but the tonal starting place is a bit more centered, IMHO.

    Hope that helps! :)

oh, duh - sorry. I just recently learned they made these basses in 34" scale. I guess I should be searching 534 instead.

Yeah, I looked that up on Instagram when I bought it. It's hilarious to me how much they blow those photos out to make the grain pop. The actual bass looks soooo much better in person.

Thanks for posting. The description of the tone is accurate!
