Shipped a very special MTD 535-24 bass to a very nice buyer last week. And it seems that somewhere after it arrived at the local distribution center in Florida to prepare for home delivery the bass was never scanned again. It's a very unique bass, the top is Holly (white wood) and the neck is old stock Rosewood from the Martin facility collection. Please keep your eyes open for this one. It was fully insured, but its really not about the money for me, its about how special of an instrument this really is.
FWIW, if you haven't already gone down this route, I ran into a similar problem a few months ago - the packing slip had fallen/been torn off the box in transit and it was in the lost packages warehouse. Things do get stolen, but it's very rare, especially an object as big as a bass. Call FedEx - I know what a huge pain in the ass that is and I apologize in advance - and ask them to run a trace. Once you get to someone halfway competent in the States, their customer service is pretty good, but getting there is an absolute chore. Best of luck, it's a beautiful instrument. Hope it gets home soon.
Thank you I really appreciate your insight. I had a trace ran and they told me they will have the case open for 2 months. In the meantime they are going to be sending me a credit.
Cool. As I said in my quick edit, things do get stolen, but very rarely is it an object as large as a bass. It took them about a week and a half to find my bass, if memory serves, but they did find it. I hope it turns up soon!
