Got email from Mike Tobias - sent some eye candy- can't wait to get this one!
I just don't know what to say....I think I am crying!!!
It looks great, and I'm sure it's gonna kick butt!
Surely, one of the more unique MTDs that Mike has put out.
thanks fellas- the cool thing is i found the woods myself- so i feel like i was in on it- and a big hand for God for making that wonderfull wood!
That spalted maple is killer! The fretboard is also very cool!
It is kinda cool sourcing your own wood. I did that for the DP Custom that I'm having built (although it has been quite the challenge!).
Thanks for keeping us updated. It's gonna be a magnificent bass!
i have never had the chance to see an american MTD i person, but i think that this design is the best out there. it seems classic and modern at the same time, really easy to play, i think. and your bass is one of the most impressive MTD i have evere seen if not the most, please post pics when finished! Great work adrian and you have to bless Mike's hand too!
WOWSERS!!! I almost didn't even open up this thread for fear of what was just confirmed! A true beauty in the making
THat just may be the most beautiful bass I have ever seen, and it is not even done yet...
That is officially the Greatest Spalt Ever.
That's a great looking bass.
Tell him "Hi" from the gang
I'm gonna get the G&L and rig I'm saving for, THEN: I will work for years if need be to get one of those. I'm sincerely amazed at MTDs.
I don't particularly like boutique basses. Personally I feel that most (save sadowski and others) look way to modern, and sound it too. As for MTDs though, they're a work of art!
That fretboard is almost as cool as the melted ones that JT has. What is it made of?
Looks kinda like macassar ebony. Or some unusually figured brazilian rosewood.
its madagascar rosewood- naturally burled and figured- its the ony figured wood Mike was willing to do a fretboard with...
Kong- do you have a digital camera? i would love to get more pics of this bass- is yours ready? - i have to wait a little longer because mine will be lacquered- have a great time- say hi to Mike T for me- peace!- Adrian
Sweet I'm not too familiar with that particular rosewood, but if it sounds as good as it looks, it should be awesome!
here's a couple more pics-
and the peghead.. i dont know how old these are- i just got them , though- it may have frets by now-
