Bit of a change here - another TB'er has generously offered to rewire and set the bass up for me.

So now the sale is for a fully functional MTD Artist 4 in cherry. :smug:

It's in very good condition, no real scratches or dings to speak of.

Unlike most other Artists, Heirs, etc. this one has grain that's perfectly matched on the front, and hardly noticeable on the back.

Another big plus is the weight, which was what sold me originally - just a hair over 7 lbs. You'll forget you have this thing on even after a 4 hour set.

Very comfortable asymmetrical neck profile, 24 med. jumbo frets, single MM PU in the sweet spot, MTD 3 band pre, Buzz Feiten tuning system...the works.

These go for $780 street, and there's a 5er up for sale here for $550, so I'll let her go for $500 shipped CONUS. Also considering trades for P style basses/bodies :)

However, bear in mind that it will take awhile before the TBer who's setting it up will be finished and send it back to me, so I won't be able to ship it out immediately. PM me and we'll talk.

Here's some pics...It really doesn't look like basswood to me, a lot more like ash, although it was advertised as basswood. But I've heard that some were made with ash and sold as basswood, so this is possible. Either way, it's REDICULOUSLY light. The back is the only place where you can see any grain line between the pieces, and even then it's not very visible.

    Ahem, these don't suck.

If any southern WI bassist picks this up, I'll do the assembly for a six pack...

It's likely made of ash. Here's a photo of mine, which is:

This is a pretty good deal. I paid $425 + shipping for my 5er in 2006 ($447 + shipping in 2009 dollars). I got mine with the intention of changing out the electronics, but the stock electronics have been working out just fine, so I never did.
