MTD Grendel 5 string Czech Rep.

This is a sweet bass! I still have mine, and it's been used for all of my gigs for about 10 years. It's still not retired, but I have my new 6-string that gets the most attention. But this is a sweet lil gem, and this price is very good. This is essentially the bass that later became a "true" MTD under the Grendel name. These were "pre-MTD" runs and were so good that Mike Tobias later decided to bring them in as full MTD members.

These are 34" though, the later MTD Grendels were 35" as far as I know. Still, mine has a great and tight B-string. Note that the electronics on these ones are American Bartolinis, as are the preamp, and the rest of the hardware is also higher quality than the later Kingston basses (this is quoted directly from Mike, I was in touch with him a couple years ago about this issue).

I guess that should serve as an honest recommendation for a somewhat less recognized bass and a free bump.

 

Can you give us a weight on this and some better close pictures of it. I can't really even tell what color it is.
