MTD Kingston 5, active, mint, MTD GB, $525

Discussion in 'For Sale: Bass Guitars' started by bassdr, Dec 4, 2005.

  1. Hey all. This is a mint, as new, MTD Kingston, the new active style with no pickguard, I bought new from Bass Central in the fall with the MTD plush ultra padded gigbag. The gig bag alone is an $80 item. I used it to record and played once live at church. It's literally been played less than an hour. It has a beautifully figured ash body through a nice blue tranparent finish. It has a little aquamarine tint to it, not as green as my digital camera made it look. These basses play amazing with the assymetric neck and ultra low action. These are 35" inch scale and have a clear and focused B string. Electronics are clean and nice sounding. It recorded well. It has the 3 band EQ. All of the plastic protective covers are still in place on the covers. It is basically new, not a ding, and as new. See my feedback in the feedback forum and let me know if you are interested. PM me for any questions.

$500 M.O. or paypal, UPS ground shipping included to the lower 48!!!!!!

First off. If you only played it an hour, may I ask why you are selling it? Is there something you don't like about the bass or is it for other reasons?

How is the sound of the active pickup? Does it have control over the coils of the pickup like the Music man?

What type of strings do you have on the bass?

How much does the bass weigh?

Does it balance well with a strap (any neck dive)?

  4. I am up to 6 basses and the spouse has a 5 bass limit. The only reason I am letting this go is to thin the herd. It is truly a great bass and by far the best value in this price range.

No coil tap like the MM. Tone is very similar to the MM. 3 band EQ gives a pretty good variety of tones.

It has the original MTD strings that it shipped with.

Let me know if you are interested. Lots of trade offers, nothing solid yet.

you are seriously tempting me to buy this and string it like the top end of a 7 string just for fun! stop it!
edit: but is it really an ash body?, i should know this, I am an MTD dealer- i think these are basswood???

  7. Hey Adrian, how's it going? I bought a first generation Heir from you a few years back. I thought the same thing and e-mailed Mike (Tobias) about it. He said that the transparent finish basses should be ash and asked me to e-mail him a picture of the bass to look at the grain. He e-mailed me after looking at it and verified it as an ash body.

    Sale pending to Noodlehead.
