That's a pretty vague question, the answer to which is very subjective and dependent on a lot of factors.
indeed. There are alot of factors which can affect a live & studio situation. We need more info about your setup. Matt.
I play gospel music primarily, but I also play smooth jazz, R&B, reggae, and country. My setup is SWR 4x10's and 2x10's. Hope this helps.
The knock on the Z series is that the electronics aren't what people have come to expect from MTD. Then again, $1149 retail is also not what people have come to expect from MTD, so it's all relative. My sense is that they are right there with other instruments in their price range, and some of the wood MTD uses on them is very distinctive IMO. If you were going to try a bass and either like it or upgrade it, a Z could be the way to go, as the bass itself seems pretty classy. If I were looking this way, I might email Michael Tobias and ask him if it would be possible down the road to fit in an MTD USA electronics package into a Z without major surgery. That way you could see how much you like it now and know that there's an upgrade path if you choose to take it.
Thanks dude but I was refering to the ZX model that's pretty much upgraded already with the USA Bart electronics. I heard Gouche play it at NAAM and it was killin' by itself. I was wondering if it cut thru in a band setting and records well in the studio. My guess is it will but am wondering if anyone owning one knows already.
I'm curious about this as well. Does anyone on TB own one of these bad boys? And yeah, the clips of Gouche were nasty! From what's been written in other threads, the pickups and pre in this one are to be a throwback to the pre-Gibson Tobias thang...
