Mudvayne bass Tone

  1. I know this might have been asked numerous times already, but I searched and couldn't find it?

I want to know what EQ settings you guys would suggest to get a similar sound to Mudvayne's Ryan Martinie?

Does he cut his mids, boost at a certain frequency or what? is he using a compressor - what settings would he be using?

I know alot of his tone comes from his Warwick & Ampeg combination, but I'm more interested in being able to EQ in a similar sound...

    Anyone have any suggestions?

It all depends on what era you are refering to as well. His early work was full of mids, now he uses more of a mid scoop.

  7. I prefer his earlier work, to be honest. The new stuff is good, but different. The older stuff was more to my liking...

Do you know where abouts he was boosting the mids on the earlier albums?

  8. Is it common practice to record through a guitar amp as well as through a bass amp?

And could anyone tell me roughly what mid frequencies frequency Ryan was boosting to get his tone on L.D.50?

hm i use a guiatr amp at the moment for practice. its dual channel with Gain, Volume and Shape on the dirty channel. It gets a pretty good tone with the shape, altough its not quite the same as the tone with Nothing to Gein(live version). Bad thing about having a 50 watt guitar amp is im almost blowing it.
