On this weekend was Disturbed (ick) Cold (ugh) and Mudvayne. Anyone catch Mudvayne rocking out on Death Blooms, Nothing to Gein and Dig? I thought they did an excellent job, and I was digging Ryan's tone. Specially on Nothing to Gein. That, and they did Dig, which is pretty fast anyway at about double speed, which was kinda cool. Anyone?
I also caught that! That was great.. I almost went to that show too! ahh! It was at Jones Beach on LI. ReelBigBassist here also caught that. He e-mailed me b/c he was amazed by his technique. I am too! I wish my digital cable company would add it to the list of things I can watch whenever I want so I can tape it!
Yeah. I'm waiting for the Live From Peroria DVD...it's a full concert tape they made from a stop in their home town...that I want to see...I've seen them live once, and I sorely need to seem them again...
Yeah, I'm going to get the Live In Petoria DVD...did you hear about re-releasing "Kill I Oughta" under a different name? Just a bit odd...
i´m starting to like them... hell, all my band is crazy about them! i mentioned how much i loved the live version of "death Blooms" *the one in the Ozzfest 2001 CD* anyways... the next thing i know is that we are going to learn it and play it cool stuff
Taped it. It reinforces my belief that these nu metal guitarists should be getting paid half of whatever the bassists are making.
Sup everyone, Yea I saw the hbo special, and man was I amazed. Actually, I was blown away by ryan martinie's playing. On one song he was playing 4 note chords up and down the neck, i was like damn! His speed is just incredible, it's awesome. His slapping and popping was really awesome too. I like his playing, it's fresh. I havn't heard someone play like him before. All in all I was blown away by his playing. Keepin it Bassy, Greg P
You people have no idea how happy i am to here people talking about Ryan. After seeing Mudvayne's first show on Reverb I wanted to play bass. Since they were metal and wore paint and all the crap about them following Slipknot I was worried that Ryan wouldn't get any recognition. Anyway I taped the show. And saw them at Ozzfest here in Atlanta. Best damn show I've ever seen. Mudvayne is my all time favorite band and Ryan is my favorite bass player. Thank you all for giving me something else to yap about. MUDVAYNE FOREVER.
Good damn it!!! I want the bass to front and center. I want to HEAR the damn thing, and I want the people who pick it up to be musicians, not drunk a$s friends of the singer. Viva la bass revolution!!!
I saw that! that was good...on death blooms he goes all up and down the fretboard . Anyway, what was he usin? i counted 5 strings but it may of been six. That damn camera man! Who thinks they should just focus in the bass 24/7 on everything? ... well mostly everything (*ahem* fieldy *ahem*)
Warwick Thumb 5 on Death Blooms, then I think another Thumb 5er on Nothing to Gein, then a Warwrick 4...maybe a Corvette? I can't recall, on Dig....
I could have sworn he used a Thumb 4 too... Theres one in the video for "Dig" I also read an interview with him in Bass Player magazine and he said that he used a detuned thumb 4 with heavy strings.
