im not sure if this should go in strings or basses so I'll put it here.
if a four string is EADG
    and a five is BEADG
and a six is BEADGC (i think)
what are sevens and eights and all the others?

    Aren't all basses multi-stringed?
I THINK the 7 string tuning is F#-B-E-A-D-G-C

  3. Fish Brain check this out www.lordonly.net the bassist plays 7 and 8 string basses only! or you could just asked him your self

    Standard tuning is in quarts.

    Most common tunings:

    4: EADG or BEAD

    5: BEADG or EADGC

    6: BEADGC

    7: BEADGCF or F#BEADGC

When I met John at NAMM last weekend, I had to retune his 8 string bass in fourths - that stupid guitar interval was screwing me up! :) That bass played like buttah tho - all hail the mightly Bill Conklin!

BTW, John... it was nice to finally make your acquaintance, even if it was in Country-land. Though, you gotta love a town where you can't walk a block without passing at least three bars with live music going -- and at 3 in the afternoon, no less!

yeah, nice meeting you and your dad too. i don't know, the biggest problem about nash-vegas was the steaming potholes, i think  was it just me or did you notice the "aroma" being pretty strong :p ack.

they have some great bars for live music there - there was one, 12th and porter, where they must've had upwards of $250,000 worth of live reinforcement gear for a stage and audience area that couldn't hold more than maybe 500 people tops. shoot - they had a foh board and a main board, and they were only about 30 feet apart, if that, and both boards were at least 56 channel, and at least one of them was automated.

    must be nice.
