Farscape is a science fiction TV series about an Earthling (apparently American) astronaut who is lost in space and encounters some rather "interesting" alien life forms. Some of the aliens are reasonably humanoid, and are played by human actors. Others are non-humanoid, which is where the puppets come in. The non-humanoids were indeed made by a Jim Henson company and (IIRC) are manipulated and voiced by Henson employees.

But who looks at puppets when there are space-babes around?

I don't blame you ben, you don't watch a lot of TV.

Farscape is a Sci/fi show that ran for what 4 seasons? then it got cancelled before the conclusion.

But, much like family guy, once it was cancelled the fan response was enormous, so enormous, so many petitions, letters...etc. that they are bringing it back. But not in series form, rather, that trailer is for a 4(or 6) part mini series that will basically finish the series up.

It's actually a very neat show, some of the highest quality sci-fi to grace TV since Babylon 5 imo.

Also there are lots of interesting aliens too, for instance, the ship they live on is alive, and the pilot of the ship is intrinsically connected to the ship. Also, while there are "humans" they aren't like earthlings they are weird and kind of evil, they are the main antagonist for much of the series.

all in all, a good show, if you like sci-fi.

I don't really know what the mini-series is about, but I think you kind of have to have watched the series to really get it, though I'm sure they will probably rehash things a bit, it still won't totally make sense unless you've seen the series. Personally, I only watched the first season, and parts of the following seasons, but I got pretty lost.

Seems to be something of a star trek voyager rip off... just without 7 of nine. damnit.
  7. Yeah, thats funny, I actually appeared in an episode in the first series, it was filmed on the gold coast- Australia. Man, we don't get it aired over here, they did a pilot series here but it didn't take off. this was years ago. I was talking to an old bandmate who lives in Omaha 2 days ago and he was raving on about farscape, so the irony is funny for me. :) . I thought they canned that series years ago......... oh well.

They did, they tore down the sets, and everyone lost a job. But then the online community backlash was so overwhelming and the ratings were so good for the reruns, that they decided to make this mini series(that's what the trailer is for)

money, while htere are some similarities in the main plot device(wormhole zapping main character to opposite side of the galaxy) The show differs greatly from Star Trek because instead of an organized crew of people with moralistic high ground, the crew in farscape is a bunch of outlaws. So the things that each show deals with are different.

I dunno, probably because moya(the living ship that pilot is attached to) got hurt or something.

    me likey Farscape.
It has hokey moments just like any other Sci-Fi series. But overall it's pretty dang good in my estimation. I mean, muppets farting helium and puking fire, where else you going to get that?

A little like the first few seasons of Lexx, till it imploded.

Not happy when they nixed it and touted Stargate as their best show.

Farscape is the new Doctor Who for me.
Though I hear that's coming back too.
