How does Chris (Muse bassist) get that light distortion? A reliable source tells me he uses a big muff, but no matter how I fiddle around with mine I can't get the sound.

I'm looking for the kind of tone he gets on New Born and Hypermusic. You know, that kind of light but noticeble distortion.

    Cheers.

  2. He has 2 overdrive pedals.

    - Big Muff ( Did you know that ' muff ' is actually slang for a cu... nevermind  )
    - Hughes & Kettner Tubefactor

He runs his signal thru an A/B/Y box..
one signal is clean, and one signal gets put thru an equaliser ( to boost the highs ), and then put thru another A/B/Y box with the 2 overdrives.. then the signal gets blended with the clean signal again.

this is actually a very nice idea.. boosting the highs gets good overdrive, but you'll still want the lows too..

  3. and from what date is that photo ?
when i last saw them, he also had a tubefactor..
