what year id the music mans get sold to EB again? I have a 97 SR5 and was jsut wondering. It seems like the woods arent as nice these days on the newer basses. is it just me?
Pretty sure it was 1984. And as for the wood difference, they used a lot more Poplar before, and now use more ash. In fact, all the transparent finishes are ash, and most opaque ones are now too, a lot more then before. EB introduced the SR5, Sterling, Silloette, and all the current guitars made by MM. The reason MM was bought by EB btw was because MM was basically losing quality control like no one's buisness. EB's basses today are better built and of better quality then the pre-EB ones, although they are not exactly the same and some people prefer the sound of the older ones, even though they are generally not made as well, esspecially in the early 80s.
well.. your 97 will be the same EB as a 2003 one.. maybe the basses you play now just aren't setup as well... thats a common problem in music stores
