Could you mean "legato" a musical term for playing in a smooth and connected manner, so that the notes seem to run together as opposed to "staccato" which means cut short so that there is an audible space between notes. These terms come from Italian and are used to describe the way the music is to be played.

LEGATO- a smooth and connected manner of performance. Legato
is indicated by a curved line over a group of notes. This curved line is called a "slur".
