MF is offering 15% off until Monday, 4/16.

Can you use a price match and then apply the coupon after the price match at MF?

    Thanks for your help.

I recently tried a price match at musicians friend and was turned down... I had a 20% at zzsounds for an ampeg heritage 4 10 and musiciansfriend declined even though I've spent over 5k in the last two years on gear on their site.

I gave it a shot by phone and they would not honor a price match plus the coupon.

Any suggestions beyond the phone call route?

I call BS on this policy as MF's gear is marked up considerably.

    Here is their policy:

    45-Day Best Price Guarantee

Buy with confidence. If you find a lower advertised price from any authorized U.S. dealer before or after the sale, call or email us. We'll beat any verifiable advertised price by 10% of the difference. If you've already purchased from us and find a lower advertised price within 45 days of your purchase, contact us via phone or email and we'll refund the difference after verification.
For Internet requests, please contact us at online support and have the competing website address (preferably the specific product page URL) included for our representative. We'll verify the online pricing and product description, brand name, availability, and relative price and product specifications. Due to manufacturer restrictions, some products are excluded from this guarantee. Please ask a sales representative for details or contact us at online support. Advertised items must be factory-sealed new product. Demo models, factory seconds, sale items, discontinued merchandise, and floor samples not included. Items must be in-stock, advertised, and verifiable on the web or in a local or national paper, magazine, or catalog by an authorized dealer (you may be required to email or fax a copy of the competitor's offer). Musician's Friend will beat combined or multiple offers at its sole discretion.

e-Mail for a pricematch that you can can enter online.

When you write up the order, apply the coupon code. It sometimes works.

    That's all you have.

Re their "policies," they'll do whatever they feel like. Everyone here knows it.

  7. I just call musiciansfriend repeatedly and restate my story tell i get help-I have had to call 3 times to get someone to put stuff through before-"the squeaky wheel gets the grease".

I bought thousands there and still i got zero help , there are lazy employees in every outfit.

I bought a ric in blue , only blue was on sale in august for 1300$ then i got 15% off so a total of 1104$.

In december , 4 months later I called and said hey I got a great deal on one of these , I want another anyway you can cut me a deal? there reply was "sorry we can only do 10% off" Ok thanks.

I recalled a few days later.Explained the sitution to a new rep, "Sorry sir I cant do that good of a deal BUT i can sell you one for 1270$" i went from paying 1949$ to 1270$ with a 2 minute phone call. I agreed and i was bought.

2 days later I recalled with a 15% off coupon i found and asked it to be applied to my order " no problem sir" so i netted my other ric for 1080$ , 4 months later and in natural not blue.

In summary: It comes down to just sticking with it. Be kind treat them nice, etc.

It seems, if you click on that ad, it takes you to all the stuff that’s not excluded, and you shop from there.

I noticed there were no Sennheiser mics there, so I went and found what I was thinking about (e835 three-pack), put it in the cart and the coupon wasn’t applicable. I went back to the products linked from the ad and added a Heil that was listed, and the coupon worked fine.

But as others said, they can’t advertise the brands that have declined to be part of the deal, but if you call they may easily accommodate.

It all has to do with who you have on the phone, and one's willingness to haggle. There's a closed post in the hot deals section with someone's name to contact at MF for great deals. My last purchase I contacted him (via email) but got impatient (it was a weekend and gas pains were great), and called to try my luck with the phone. I wound up getting a deal that was I think $25 cheaper than what the "deal" guy offered me a couple of days later, PLUS a nifty set of my favorite headphones for free. Not braggin, just sayin. :) OK. I'm bragging.

There are some people who won't budge at those stores, and others who are willing to practically give stuff away. A really friendly girl at one of the other big online stores once told me that they all pretty much have a bottom line that they're allowed to sell for, and it's right in front of them. Some will do it, some won't. She suggested calling back till you get the right person. I almost bought the entire inventory of that particular store when I had her on the line.

One of my greatest fears in life is that these online places are going to one day find a thread like this, and decide to change their order policy to rock solid, no haggling prices. Oh how painful that would be.

Last note... just about all the online companies will offer 15% off at anytime if you just ask. And if you're not a good haggler, or just don't want to go for it, they offer 15% codes for every holiday on the calender. Most you'd have to wait is a month.

C’mon folks- all they’re doing is guaranteeing that nobody else’s advertised price is lower than theirs. I think some people are trying to make it something it’s not meant to be… they are there to make a profit.

I mean, if you can get more out of them, or even take advantage of a rep who’s nice or clueless, no judgment here.

(I've told this story before, but it’s all I’ve got since my many dealings with MF have been otherwise drama-less.)

    I bought a GK MB500 head used, listed as #1-condition for $375 ($500 new) which I thought was a pretty-good deal.

It came, but wouldn’t power up, so I called. They didn’t have any other used ones, so I asked for a new one for the same price. As I expected, she said they couldn’t, but only could offer me a new one for 10% off. I asked for 20% ($400), and then finally 15% ($425), but back and forth to her “supervisor” (or polishing her nails), she said 10% is the best they could do.

Finally I said “Um, let me talk to this supervisor, please.” She paused… “Uh… well, it might take a while”… I said “That’s okay, I’ll wait”. About twenty seconds later she came back and said “Well, my supervisor said they’ll give you a new one for the same price ($375), but just this one time!”.

    Considering I’d clearly stated I’d accept 15% off, I was like… “Okay!”

    :)

  14. The guys name who cut deals was Skaught , Chris Baker is another MF supervisor on here so they have already found out how we get these deals-I called one time and they said oh your from that online forum , etc.

Is Skaught around yet? I keep emailing but a Chris Maile and he won't do more than bout 10%. I have delt with Laura too but this chris says she's not around anymore. Maybe MF caught her sellin too low. She gave me some smokin deals and quotes around January.

I had to jump through a few hoops to get in touch with him, but yeah... I'm pretty sure 10% off was what he offered me. Part of why I also ordered before his getting back to me was they were offering a "free gift" with what I purchased. But there was no free gift listed, and I wanted to know what it was. Was told it was a website glitch, that they actually weren't offering anything free with it (bought a boss micro recorder), but the guy told me he's throw one in anyhow. Asked what I wanted. I panicked. Should have said a Rickenbacker. But I said another set of headphones I once before got for free. I really like em.

  17. When your emailing forums@musiciansfriend just write "ATTN:Skaught" or whatever rep your trying to reach-With anything you buy you should be getting 15% off the top.

Unfortunately, MF is not price matching and then giving 15% off. I've tried a few different times.

Trying to pick up a GK Fusion 550. RMC Audio has it @ $799.00 compared to MF @ $929.00. MF will price match to bring it down to $784.00, but I would have loved to get an extra 15% on top of the price match.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

  20. In this situation your basically looking at nearly the same price ($10 diff) between the 15% and price match . The benefit may be free shipping. If that's what RMC was offering MF will match that too. Another 15% on top of that is asking a lot honestly. That would be 30% total off. Maybe if the price match isn't too big you just might get lucky. I would call RMC and let them know what MF is offering and see if they'll give an extra 10-15% off? Worst they can say is no.
