I have decided that the upgrade to a Premier Dealer Network Honey Roasted Mahogany Al was just too good to pass up. (sounds kinda tasty, doesn't it?).
Alas, that means Scarlet O'Hara is now on the block.

Ok, Finally got my Big Al. So far it's been all good; finish, set-up, electronics, were all spot on out of the case and the tuning was even perfect after the trip across the atlantic ...in fact I've not even had to re-tune at practice yet!

The biggest surprise was the size of the body. I look a little out of scale when using my jazz - as it's just a bit on the large side for me - but Al fits me like a glove, I could play up and down that neck all day.

I'm in bass heaven!

So, after a gig and two practices the bridge pick up is putting out about 20% the volume it should do.

Anybody else had this problem? It's going in to the shop for a closer inspection tomorrow.

...I'm trying to keep a positive outlook on all of this.

I'm curious as to what your reasoning is. Given the placement of the bridge pickup, it will be more quiet compared to the other two, especially on the upper strings.

Well, it's noticeably different to when I first got t a week ago and with all the pickups in series(all buttons out) its extremely quiet; whereas it should be the punchiest.

Yeah, all buttons up (which is only coils 1 and 2 in series), should be the loudest setting. I wouldn't send it to some regular repair shop while the bass is still under warranty though. I would contact Music Man Customer Service.

Yeah, the shop is a Music Man accredited repair centre, so my warranty will be ok. Bit of a bummer though!

I guess this is the place to find big al owners. Anyone want to trade a big al 5 for a dingwall ABZ 5?

Otherwise I'll probably go all out and order a custom al 5 in orange... Thus gaining admittance to the club.

Big al is my dream bass, I a four banger guy, love the sound of the low B, until I get my hands on one then it just doesnt sound right to me, anyone have a white 4 string with matching headstock?

Funnily enough I'm gonna pick it up today, it had a duff bridge pickup so they swapped it out for a new one. Hopefully it's all clear sailing from here on in!!
