Musicman sr5 vs Fender MIA deluxel P bass V

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by bassist 4 life, Sep 19, 2005.

  1. Hello

I am saving up for a new bass I came across 2 basses that seemed pretty good

they were a musicman stingray 5 and a fender deluxe mia precision V.

i play rock/blues/prog metal/slap, which one of these 2 basses do you think would suit me, I think the stingray is a better choice, what do you TBers think?

can anyone post clips if possible?
  2. come on, anyone?

I just traded my SR5 for a MIA Jazz Deluxe V because it was more versatile tonewise. The Stingray is a great bass but I would check out the new dual humbucker versions just about to hit the market and then try both a decide which you like better. They are both fine instruments.

Very different basses. What they have in common is that they're 5ers.

The Stingray has a distinctive, punchy, aggressive tone. Some don't like it, many do.

I don't know enough about the specific Fender in question to say any more.

I will note that I just bought a Bongo, so I'm undoubtedly MM-biased.
  5. Since it will take awhile for me to save up im guessing that the new mms will already be there by the time i have enough money to buy a sr5, os i might get one of those isnteads, i like the ones with 1 humbucker and 1 single coil pickup?

can anyone post clips of the stingray or the fende?
