MUSICMAN STINGRAY / AMPEG

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by bassampegman, Nov 6, 2004.

  1. Hi i use my Musicman Stingray 4 string 3 eq active with Ampeg SVTCL head, finger style rock stuff mainly.

What other uses out there play similar on Musicman where do you set your eq on the bass, mine is treble boosted approx half boost, mid flat and bass flat.

I like a punchy deep sound

I turn all the knobs until it sounds good, then I stop.

Of course, I prefer a flabby, weak and tinny tone.

  3. Yeah but what sounds best, i leave the middle flat as it sounds nasty.

I just turn them as well but i was hoping for some better tips than that !!

Mid maxed, and treble & bass at 3/4. Then I run my volume at 1/2.

    1. Dial in a burpy mid, then razor-cut the treble to half-mast.

    2. With all right angles thoroughly carpeted, then micro-tilt the bass knob until it faces Mecca.

    3. Then say, "What room am I in?"

    4. Then ask yourself, "What amp am I using?"

    5. Then thoroughly question yourself about whether you want more of a modern tone, an old school tone, or if you are, in fact, tone deaf.

    6. Now turn everything back towards the South Pole.

    7. What is your favorite color?

Ampeg SVTIIIPRO with bass and treble boosts on. Stingray5 with bass full on, mid at half and treble either off for rock stuff or at half for funkier/slap stuff.

bass full, mid flat, treb flat. sometimes i dial a bit more treb in and cut the bass back a bit as it gets a bit boomy. when jamming if i find i cannot hear myself i boost mids.

i say put everything at half/flat and you need some more bass to fill the sound out and you might want less or more treb depending on your strings and if you are using a pick or fingerstyle.

    i don't know.
