MusicMan Stingray IV any good for ADGC tuning?

    Hi Guys,

It's been a while. I have a Esh Various V tuned for ADGCF. The reason I bought a 5-stringer was the better B-string (A in my case) tension for low tuning. I've had the Esh for 3 years now and I've come to the conclusion that I rarely use the F-string and would like to get a 4-stringer instead. Is there a bass that is well suited for ADGC tuning? I'd like to get a MusicMan Stingray IV but I'm not sure if it will cope with the low string tension. Any suggestions?

You'd obviously have to get the nut altered, but there is no reason why it wouldn't cope with any string tension you throw at it. But there's no reason you should have low tension. Floppy strings suck.

I would bump up the string gauges for that tuning... something like the lower four strings of the EB power slinky set 0.070" 0.085" 0.105" 0.135"

If you can get something with a 0.140", you might want to try that.
