Okay,
this is a hard one.
I can get a MusicMan Stingray 5 used for $850 or a Spector NS5CRFM new for $900.

Which one would you take ? I play progressive rock / progressive alternative (á la Incubus, Dream Theater) and a bit of punk (a la Ramones, Clash etc.).

So which one ?

Thanks,

David

They're both great basses (get the Spector) & the price is right for both (get the Spector). They are both great playing(get the Spector) & sounding basses. (get the Spector)

Tell you the truth, it's a tough decesion. ;)

Have you played 'em both? Which one felt more natural to you? Which one sounded more natural to you? Which one fit into your musical situations better?

After all that, I'd still get the Spector:D LOL

7. I'll have to agree with Nino - get the Music Man. :D

I liked the feel of both. But I do alot of tapping & some slapping. Tapping was great on the spector, and slapping was great on the mm... any idea ?

I also use a very low action (pro-spector ?)

LMAO!!!!:)

11. I would supply my opinion on this matter, but I can't decide one way or the other. I was facing the exactly same decision you are now not too long ago. In the end, I ended up getting the Stingray and I love it to death. In just a week or so however, I'm ordering a brand new Czechtor (who coined this one? It's great!) in Black Cherry. I guess I just have really really poor impulse control (or really good taste in basses, eh Nino and Stingray5).

I don't know if the low action situation would favor the Spector or the 'Ray. The only Spector I have played on had medium action, but my Stingray has pretty low action. The Stingray definitely gets low enough for me anyway.

My personal opinion is that tonally the Spector would favor the progressive music and the 'Ray would favor the punk side. I think both basses could do either fairly well though. The Spector LOOKS a little more progressive if that helps. :p

Now I want to make sure I'm seeing this correctly... Did you say a brand new 5CRFM for $900?!? I think I'm going to be paying about $1500 for mine. If I remember correctly don't you live in Germany (can't see your profile from the posting screen)? Maybe that would have something to do with the low price.

Regardless of what happens, let us know! You've got two fine choices and you can't go wrong either way.

Im getting a Spector Soon too.
A New Line NS5 CRFM In Natural Oil or Amber, Im not too sure on that yet.

I have just to comfirm availability with Spector.

:)
Yahoo..!

13. Need to satisfy a little bass craving until the Omega Bass gets fixed, Luis?

Excellent choice of finish by the way. I do like the Amberburst and Natural Oil. If it turns out that I can't get mine in Black Cherry, I'm going with Natural Oil.

14. GET THE STINGRAY5!!!!

I would have no doubts for me:Spector!
