I saw someone using a musicmaster live, it killed! Pure vintage tone, very warm and full, I was impressed.
Does either model offer a fuller, more mellow tone?
Both have a single coil pu,I didn't see alot of differences..
    anyone?

I always thought that a Mustang pickup was technically a humbucker sort of like a mini P bass and a Musicmaster was a single coil pickup
If I remember correctly, it is possible to replace Musicmaster pickups with strat replacement pickups.

Mustang sounds better than the Musicmaster in my opinion.

Musicmaster uses a guitar pickup while Mustang is better overall constructed. Sounds a lot like a PBass with a bit more low end. It is very comfortable for with small hands bassists due to the shorter scale length.

Strung it with flatwounds and get ready for a nice thump sounding bass.
