IF I were in the market for another bass, this Ken Smith BSR 6G would certainly be the one. They go about $3,500 new on the street. This guy's trying to get $2,200.

(Now let's see, if I sell all my CDs and take sandwiches to work for the next 18 months, ......)

    Darth Vader on:

Do not resist...the GAS...come, buy one more bass. It will hurt none...and you will go stronger with it's power. Feel it within you, strong, rising...give into the GAS...for It IS your father....

    Darth Vader off:

    Sweet bass!

Do not resist the GAS for it will only hurt in the long run when you don't have that great bass.

Actually, If I get another Alembic I probably qualify for some sort of volume discount. That or I become one of their top dealers. :D :D

    Munji,

Let's talk about my GAS Regulator Valve. I have an agreement with my wife. I can have 3 basses at any one time. Any three. The Smith would make 4. Which of these three is worth giving up for the Smith?

    * Alembic Series II 5 string
    * Alembic Series I (prev. owned by & signed by Stanley Clarke)
    * Alembic Series I (serial # <100)

Let me answer my own question. None of them. I gotta renegotiate.

    Peace,

    James

I like to think of myself as a GEAR SLUT.. Is that better or worse than G.A.S., a symptom or one in the same... Maybe I just need to get a life...

    GAS...Gear Aquisition Syndrome...

Symptoms: Talking about gear you want to people who don't care. Reading gear catalouges, budgeting around your "future" gear. Drooling at the thought of new gear.

In short, you need another bass. You need a bigger amp. Always. Never enough. Ever. Ask John Turner about his Conklin GAS...:)

  14. lol. Thanks Brendan. Never been diagnosed, but am quite familiar with the symptoms. More now than in my drumming days, but back then too.

  15. Steven C. Truisi........a gear slut, or a gear whore?

    Malthumb,

Since three bass guitars is the maximum to ensure marital harmony, you must resist purchasing this bass. Your Alembics are way too awesome to part with. Unless of course, you were willing to part with that 5 string Series II of yours for a reasonable deal. (Oh god, what am I saying, I'm in the exact same position and another bass would require me to shift my collection to keep my home life intact).

    Stay the Alembic course.

Renegotiation. Has a ring to it. Life was meant to be renegotiated.

  20. Since I have an Elric fretted, a Pedulla fretless and a 70 P-bass, would I be over the 3 bass limit if I get an NS EUB???????? <g>
