An MXR 10 band EQ so you can have mids.

Most OD pedals are purely preference. If you limit it down to what type of OD you want, we can help you a little more, or just check out youtube vids of pedals till you find something you like. Pedals aren't really "must-haves", but if you prefer them I'd make sure you have a decent compressor and preamp.

They're like $70-80 used. They pop up occasionally and usually go pretty quickly. Such an exquisite little pedal.

My jazz bass sounds better after some compression. :)

I get big mileage out of a Zoom B3. It's been on my board for years and replaced a bunch of boo-teak stuff. I also use a Durham Sex Drive on my Ric - Yeah I know not a Jazz but really not that far off tonally

    Thanks all!

Great suggestions....many of which I know very little.....glad I asked!

I do have a DOD 10 band EQ I need to dig out.

My amps are an Eden Metro w tube and ss preamp channels...ss side has a lot of EQ available and a GK800RB.

Cabs are an Acoustic 8x10 that I modded by reinforcing inside extensively....made a HUGE difference.

    Plus a pair of EV TL606 w EV15L's.

Two different sounding cabs....I never push the EV's really hard preferring the cleaner hi-fi sound of the EV15L's...really lets the J bass shine for clean stuff for sure.

Get a Gibson or Epi bass - all the cool kids have them.
