Mute Foam Rubber for My '72 Fender P Bass bridge cover

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Michael King, Feb 22, 2015.

  1. Anyone know where I can get the type of foam rubber that used to be glued to the inside of my P Bass bridge cover? I would like to put it back original. Thank you.

Go to a hardware store and get foam weatherstripping material.

Get the 3M black weather stripping. It's what was there originally.

 Leo Fender simply bought weather stripping from Sears.

Hardware store weatherstripping. Take the cover with you so you can match what is there.

A lot of weather stripping is made of polyethylene, and I found that if held in a compressed state for a period of time, it does not spring back readily. I think the neoprene weather stripping is better in this regard.
