I've been using this comp for a while and still looking for settings optimizing compression while getting better sustain. The bass has recently been tuned up and pick-ups are at recommended height.

At this point, I'm using the following settings
    • release 3 oclock
    • ratio 4:1
    • attack full
    • output noon
    • input 3 oc

    Any better suggestions ?

I think you'd want to set your release at the absolute slowest setting...

Yes, though the release setting doesn't determine the length of sustain, it determines the amount of time the gain is reduced. So the max release time will give you a more natural sounding sustain, but not an "increased" sustain.

You would increase sustain first by lowering the threshold (turning up the input even farther), second by using a higher ratio. Thirdly by picking a more sustain-oriented comp like the Pigtronix.
