Hello everyone the title pretty much speaks for itself. Besides the multiple mods you can add to the Cat stomps, and the fact the creator (@rratajski ) of the Cats had his hand in the development of the M85, has anyone compared the two assuming the Cat has the diode switching mod?

    Thanks!

    Different opamp used.
Clean blend (can be added on CK/CT) or none vs mix on MXR.
Double resistor replacement mod only on CK/CT.
Diode toggle or blend on CK/CT vs diode selector w/ trim on MXR.
Possible buffer on front end of MXR (don't quote me...it's been a while).
    Enclosure size.
No 2nd Distortion mod, feedback mod, killswitch mod, octave dawn mod on MXR.

There has been discussion in some other threads, I believe, namely the big thread on the MXR Bass Distortion.

Having heard both, I heavily side with the CT/CK for the fact that it has the resistor mod. That’s one of the biggest and IMO most important features for making it a versatile drive/fuzz

Definitely go Fuzzrocious if you want the extra features or want it customized in any way. I went MXR because it was smaller, has the Rat sound, and I would never use the extra features. I like the silicon and LED modes both, but I always just leave it in silicon.

I'm probably going to go with both. There is an M85 I have my eyes on, on CL. From there I'll see if I will go with a Cat Tail to pair it with and have dual distortion that way, or get the Cat King for the studio/gigs. If the King is the case....... I can leave the M85 at home to mess around with.
