My 1978 Gibson RD Artist has an ironic serial number

    Serial # 72228-011. The way to date Gibson's from 1977 onward is the first and fifth numbers indicate the year (1978), the 2nd, 3rd, 4th numbers indicate the day of the year... 222nd day, which is Aug 10th. That's Leo Fender's birthday. IMG-20171113-00817.

    That's one pretty bass, and sunbursts are usually not my thing.

    The fact that it had a Hipshot bridge installed was the clincher for me.

    Vastly superior to the old Oil Rig design IMO. That being said, I was able to get the action ridiculously low on my old RD Standard even with the original bridge.
