Hi, Odd Helge Listerud has just started working on my new 8 string fretless, here are the specs:

-bodystyle Totem(same as my 9 string)

    -tuned from low B

-necktrough of hardmaple, two stripes of bubinga and two thin stripes of mahogny

-body from alder with quilt maple top

-fretboard from ebony, extended to the first pickup

-two bassculture singelcoils with ebony covers, no preamp, standard volum, volum, tone

-ETS bridge(I think), ebony knobs etc.

Think it will be a VERY nice bass, can't wait, need help

Nice looking bass! Good luck with it.

Interesting how the jack goes into the control plate... never seen that before.

That looks great! I really like the way the neck laminates are arranged.

I have one question. Is the piece of wood that the wings are attached to a jig of some sort?

I thought this was a 8-string with octaves :D I plan on making an 8-string fretless for myself . I played a cheapy and it was very cool .

I will follow this thread though , The bass looks like it will be very nice :bassist:

Thanks guys, looking forward to have it in my hands:hyper: Think the familypic with that and my 9 string(same builder) will look awsome:smug: The location of the jack on the back works very well, when you put it down, the jack dont hit the floor. The piece of wood that the wings are glued on to is just there to help him when he makes the wings I think.

Awesome! I've only seen a couple of basses from Listerud, but they have all looked really, really good.

I can't wait to see more pictures. You must be getting anxious!

Do you have any pictures of your 9? I'd love to see it.

Looks sharp, but is either the body very small or the neck very broad?

I like the big "9" on the fretboard... I envision this scenario happening every time you play out:

Audience dude: "Whoa, how many strings does that thing...... Oh."

Well, a little bit of both I think, the body is smaller then my jazz, but I like it a lot. And I have 16,5mm spacing, so it is wider than Jean Baudin's 15mm.

Haha, mots of the time people don't get it. They ask: "Hey, what does that symbol mean???" Tah I say: "Count the strings and see if you can add it up"

Both of those basses are beautiful.

I look forward to seeing more and more progress pics.

    take it easy.
  20. Looking nice, but I would hav gotten fanned frets on the 9 string.
