my ebs amp has an onboard compressor/limiter but I don't know how to use it. It has just one knobs to control the amount of compression... nothing else. I noticed that it tends to round notes and limit peaks when turned up high but I don't really understand if it is useful... someone could explain it to me??? thanx

You don't say which model of EBS amp you have.
But either way, go to http://www.ebs.bass.se

Click on Products/Manuals and there are product manuals for pretty much everything they sell. Did you go there and look before coming here? Not trying to be unhelpful, but plenty of manufacturers make manuals available online these days - letting you help yourself.

For example, on page 12 of the ebs-1 classic manual is the section explaining the compressor operation. In this case, the higher turn the knob the more the compression.

er... I made the wrong question.... I read the manual for my ebs (it's a GORM et350) but I don't exactly understand what compression is and how could I use it....
