  1. Well my band plays classic rock...late 60s-80s But, we don't have any slow dance song in the rep...

I am having trouble coming up with some good ones to add to the list..

Help a brother out with some ideas from your vast experiences..thanks

Classic late 60's slow song? That crowds know and love? Here you go:

Also one of McCartney's most beautiful bass parts.

purple rain --- you don't have to play it as slow as prince to make it effective...and it's an easy one to 'make your own' re: the arrangement.

Getting into the 80s, Chris DeBurgh's "Lady in Red" is one of my favorites, with a wonderful Pino bass line.

And Clapton's Wonderful Tonight is from 77 and is always a fave when I've played in cover bands.

Also "When a Man Loves a Woman," and Journey's "Faithfully," if you've got the singer for it.

  8. Stand by me (Ben E King) and Knockin' on Heavens Door (Dylan) always fill the dance floors for us. Drift Away (Dobie Gray) works pretty well too.

I like the huge hits that nobody plays. My current band is mulling over the Stones Wild Horses. Everybody knows it and loves it, I can't remember the last time I heard it.

Just a thought - what's your instrumentation, the band's background vocal ability and your singer's range? It might help people make more appropriate suggestions.

Wonderful Tonight was the first one I thought of. Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door or Lay Lady Lay, Eagles' Desperado, Rolling Stones' Angie. . .
