It started the other day at my lesson, my bass would jump between distortion and normal tone, sometimes cutting out. I was using my teachers new beater amp, and figuered that was all.

It was fine since then. Plugged it in again today, and from the get go there was a consistant clicking noise. It would cut in and out some more, and the distortion was very prominant this time, almost no clean tone. Eventually unplugged it for fear of something starting to smoke.

Its active, Ibanez BTB 405QM. Any advice?

sounds like battery is dead, could be something else, but thats the simple cheap solution, try that first.

    It might be the cord:meh:
Check both the battery, and the cord, see what works.

    Good Luck:)

  5. Make sure all the wires are set in the controll place, just give it a look down.

  6. Sounds like a dead battery! Well, I wouldn't worry too much about it - my bass is always making "weird noises" - I call it "jazz", most other folks call it a travesty...

    ;)

Some people spend their whole careers searching for the tone you've just described.
