Ohh man.. Just got home and I have a blast doing lesson with my instructor..

I picked the 2nd guy even though he lives 30minutes away from me.. It was a blast.! He didn't even told me to play any of the songs I recently played.. He just told me to play a chromatic scale and he pointed out my problems one by one and then we moved to Music Theory..

    My assignments is
To avoid my index finger to hover too far
    Alternate plucking 120bpm crossing strings
Press the strings with the fretted hand with the point of your fingers
And a lot of music reading

Worth every penny for this lesson.. I guess I might be back.. :)

Here's my previous thread to those people that are kinda confused
I'll update you guys every week or even everyday on my progression in doing lessons with my teacher.. ;)

and that is why you take lessons, folks. now that his hand position is straightened out, he will be able to play faster and more accurately, and it may save him an injury or two. if you don't take lessons, you never know the little things that make all the difference in the world.

I actually have a really weird thumb.. It bends like crazy..

    My thumb looks like this

    Bendable_thumb.

My instructor laughed when he saw the thumb he was like woow it really bends and he says don't worry about it.. Just do the C shape even if it bends just let it bend..

Ohh man.. The proper position and fingering really helps me tonally and speed wise..

I remember a quote my instructor told me..

"I wouldn't teach you how to play bass, I will make you a musician.."

  11. I once saw a picture of Stanley Clarke in an old Bass Player mag playing with Return To Forever, and his right-hand thumb looked like yours. Looks kinda painful!:eyebrow:
