    The highly figured black walnut topwood was damaged during the fabrication process, so I have to choose another topwood. The body is laminated as follows;

    the core is swamp ash, sandwiched by purple heart, sandwiched by maple, with black walnut wings on the back.

    I chose an awesome bookmatched spalted burl maple for the topwood. I'm not sure how the light top will go with the dark back though. Anyone got a similar pic of something like it?

    Walnut back, maple top = yummy :)

    I did a bass a few months ago that had that combo, and I thought it looked great. Pics are in this thread.

  4. Walnut/maple combinations are my all time favorites.
