After lots of research and reading on this board as well, and lots of agonizing over choices, I ordered the following today. Should have it Thursday.

    Gallien-Krueger 700RBII
    GALLIEN-Krueger Neo 2x12

Stoked. Will be playing a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass into this.

    Whaddaya think?!

The great thing about GK gear is that it is inexpensive enough to be a good "first" rig, but they are so reliable, versatile, and great sounding that they could be the last rig you buy!

Yeah, it's actually a little more than I wanted to spend on a first rig. Was thinking of an Ampeg PortaFlex as well as a lower end TCE set up. I was thinking exactly along the lines of what you said; get a rig that COULD last a lifetime. Made in America is not a bad thing either!

I was back and forth theough the various cabs. It was going to be either this or a 4x10. I went with these, thinking at some point down the road I may pick up another 2x12 and stack.

They look and (from what I've heard in YouTube videos) sound pretty sweet. I have a pair of 210's now (Avatar) which I really like, but I always need both at a gig. Was curious if the 212 could hold it's own on a medium-sized stage.

The 212 Neo is the newest member of my stable, and I freakin love that thing. I'm sure you will too. Enjoy!

Cool. Glad to hear it. How would you compare it to your other cabs and configurations? Can you hear it pretty well on stage with a moderately loud stage mix?

I actually bought it to stack on top of a 410 from a different brand, and it works quite well. I have enough volume with this rig that for the first time ever my drummer asked me to turn down! He was always, always asking me to turn up in the past but I never had the firepower to go that loud without fear of damaging something.

One of my speakon cables failed last month, and in practice I've just been running the 212 alone. It's keeping up quite well.

  17. Nice choice. I have the 700RB as well, be careful with that boost knob.
