  1. Yep
Today I bought my first car.
    A 1987 holden commodore VL.

So I probably wont be getting any bass equipment for a while:p

    I'm stoked
  2. Congrats on the car! I hope you have many safe and trouble free miles from her!:)
  3. Hehe! I got my first car a while back - a Ford KA, it luvverly.

Shame the local Lewes toerags saw fit to remove three of my hubcaps and chuck 'em in the river...

Make sure that your car is totallly vandal-proof!

  4. Thats rotten. They should be flung in the river themselves! Did you use cable ties to hold them on?? Or are you referring to the cab in the middle of an alloy wheel?

I had a Ka as a courtesy car once when my Mondeo was in for a service! Not my cup of tea - too small for my liking, altthough it was very easy to drive!

this thread sucks because of all the cool non-america cars in it :(

what kind of engine does that holden have? aren't they known for being pretty powerful?

i'd love to have a euro spec focus RS, but our SVT focus is pretty nice as well. Or an original Nissan 200sx, skyline, silvia, vw polo gti, lupo gti, golf v6 4motion, audi s3, pug 206, etc etc etc....

but at least we have big f350's!!!!

my first car was a '73 Superbeetle. started a string of 5 vw's in a row (which was broken by my 90 Nissan 240sx.)

    so.......thats my parents..
    i want a ..ugo~!
  7. way to go. happy for you. a first car is always the special one. the one you will remember. congrats.
    :D :)
  8. Yeah there are some powerful holdens about. The VL actually has a 3.0L 6 cylinder Nissan engine. It feels much more powerful though. I took it out on the highway when I got and there is PLENTY of power.

  9. Hmmm, first car! I remember mine, but only vaguely! It was a 1989 Ford Escort Popular, maroon with coach lines. It had a 1.1 Litre engine, which couldn't pull you out of bed, let alone get away from the lights very quickly!

I couldn't get rid of that car quick enough (sadly it took 2 years, 'cos it was about all I could insure!)
  10. Not alloys (i wish tho!), and no cable ties either; I never thought i would be the victim of petty car crime! Just goes to show, eh!

KA is in a low insurance group, which is why i got one! im a (quote) "young male", so the insurance companies still charge me a small fortune to insure my first car! SUCKS!
  11. Yeah, young male, huge insurance risk - been there seen it done that!!!! Statistically it's true though!!! You've just gotta drive carefully for your first few years in an easy to insure care (read that as not necessarily fun to drive!).

So, if you get more wheel trims, use cable ties - you can usually get them in black, white or silver! Means the hooligans need snips or a knife to get them off, won't necessarily stop them, but they might pass your car by and go for somebody elses!

Mind you my first car was cheaper to insure than my first bike - but a ZX-6R is pretty fast for a first bike, so I shouldn't grumble!;)

Unfortunately theres no such thing as "vandal proof". If someone wants part or all of your car bad enough, theyre going to get it. And its amazing what some people will steal. I had bought a 200000 mile 79 Impala for $50 and six months later it got stolen.
