My first handmade bass, tone consultation help needed

First things first, I am not crafting the bass, but will have it made to a non busy luthier.

I like simple jazzy tone of a alder body+maple neck+rosewood fretboard. This MTD for example, really really describes my tonal interests and has the exact specs:



So my luthier also recommended me an alder body. But he insists on multilamine neck (5 piece, maple+bubinga) while I ask for a single hardmaple neck. We are either doing venge or Indian rosewood board.

Top+maybe the back will be spalted maple, mytryle wood or walnut. I am yet undecided.

When it comes to pups and electronics, I really don't have any idea other than Nordstrands. I have very little background of different pickups and I love transparent pups, MTD Bartolinis for example.

Sorry, I believe body wood still effect the tone very much. I don't buy the same MTD because it costs over $4000 and my luthier offers his best craftmanship with all the variety of woods for only $1600-1800.

That would worry me.

Most luthiers put me on waiting line for 6 to 9 months while he delivers in 3.

Bartoloni wouldn't sell them except MTD company.
