hey guys, i been working on developing some tapping skills and i just recorded this little thing i made up thats nothing but tapping, its only about a min long, and the quality is kinda low (i recorded it with windows sound recorder ) but take a listen and tell me what you think, keep in mind im just learning this tapping stuff my tappy song =] like i said tell me what you think, good and bad EDIT: forgot to thank newbassplayer66 for hosting the mp3 for me, see him for website needs =]
Wow, that sounds like background music for an old SuperNintendo game or something. I can just picture Mario bouncing through clouds or something. Nifty.
Aside from the Mario music my comments are, the timing wasn't perfect, but not terrible, but could have been better. Try throwing a drum track behind it, some airy keyboard and bam, sell it to nintendo. Also, there were some spots where your left hand (bass notes) weren't as prominent. A compressor might help. Also, it's a cool idea, but try continuing it. Just my 50 cent.
yeah im still workin on my timing with tapping, my hands tend to work against each other than with each other (now i know why its hard for pianist/keyboardists to develope right and left hand independence (whats the word im lookin for...) and yeah sometimes one of my hands go weak on me and dont fret the notes as well, but hey, im still in the very early stages of learning tapping, so ya gotta give me credit for trying and being brave enough to share it with everyone
Hey, I'd like to know what amp or pedal do you need to use to make your tapping sound loud. I tried on a 200w amp and it sounded weak. By the way, I really like your tune, it is a STU HAMM style of playing. You are great!
thanks for the compliments nfs. i've been listening to a lot of stu hamm and john myungs tapping for background on a good tapping sound, and now that i listen to it i think the first and last part do sound very "hammy" p) whereas the middle part sounds a lot like something john myung would write (download solar groove or freeport jam for some of his solo stuff) as for equipment: fender mim jazz bass korg toneworks multieffects pedal (i was using a light chourus on that clip) fender bassman 60 watt amp (i ran from the tuner out to the sound card in on my pc) as far as getting the tapping loud enough, i would say it just takes time, im just now getting where i can get good volume when i tap, but as you can tell im not very accurate with it so my notes arent as clean as they should be. anyways, hope that helps, and thanks again for the compliment. oh btw: i forgot, i've heard using compression helps with tapping, i havent tried this yet so im not sure, you might want to look into it.
I love it, keep going with this, you definetly have something. I would concentrate on your left hand tapping being one constand volume and beat. It tends to shift during the song if you concentrate on just that. TALENTED
i thought it was nice. i can't tap for crap... it sounded like one of those circus organ thingies from the old days.
